Mission
Hope Shine Uganda is a Christian organization focused on empowering vulnerable women and children from urban slum communities in Uganda, aiming to break the generational cycle of poverty. Many of the women it serves have little to no education and have migrated from rural areas to the city seeking employment, only to become trapped in slum conditions.
The mission at Hope Shine is to empower vulnerable women and children to break the cycle of poverty and become independent.
Hope Shine lives out its mission through:
- Vocational Training equipping young single mothers in skills to help lift them from poverty.
- Feeding Program distributing food to hundreds of women weekly that can feed their family for three days.
- Medical care for expecting mothers.
- Esther House, a safe haven for the most vulnerable girls aged 14-21
- Night Life Workers Outreach supports girls engaged in sex work for survival. The organization holds monthly meetings with this group, providing food bags, encouragement, prayer, and a listening ear to hear their stories. Many women in the program turn to prostitution to support their children after falling into debt due to life’s hardships.
